Broadcasters revise MRP, change bouquets ahead of D-Day

MUMBAI: Several broadcasters like Times Network, Disney India, and Turner International India have published a revised reference interconnect offer (RIO) ahead of the implementation of the new tariff regime for the broadcast industry. The MRP and the price of the bouquets have been reworked in order to ensure wide adoption of the channels by the consumers.

Times Network

The broadcaster has priced its 12 channels between Rs 0.5 to 10. Times Network owns and operates seven standard definition (SD) and five high definition (HD) channels.

Movies Now, which is the driver channel in the Times Network bouquet, has an MRP of Rs 10 followed by Romedy Now (Rs 6), MNX (Rs 6), Times Now (Rs 3), ET Now (Rs 3), Mirror Now (Rs 2), and Zoom (Rs 0.5).

In terms of HD channels, Movies Now HD is priced at Rs 12 followed by MN+ (Rs 10), MNX HD (Rs 9), Romedy Now HD (Rs 9), and Times Now HD (Rs 5).

The network has four bouquets. The first bouquet with four SD channels has been priced at Rs 5. The second bouquet, which has seven SD channels, has been priced at Rs 13. The third bouquet with eight channels including five HD channels has been priced at Rs 20. The bouquet 4 with Times Now HD and three SD channels has been priced at Rs 6.

Disney India

The broadcaster has a bouquet of nine channels including seven SD and two HD channels. The channels have been priced between Rs 1 to Rs 12. Disney International HD and UTV HD are priced at Rs 12 and Rs 8 respectively. Disney Channel has an MRP of Rs 8 followed by Hungama TV ar Rs 6. Disney Junior and Disney XD are priced at Rs 4 each while UTV Movies and UTV Action are priced at Rs 2 each.

The broadcaster has bouquets namely Universal, Kids, Hindi entertainment, and HD priced at Rs 10, Rs 12, Rs 4, and Rs 8 respectively.

Turner International India

Turner’s seven channels are priced between Rs 1 and Rs 15. HBO HD and Cartoon Network HD+ have an MRP of Rs 15 and Rs 10 respectively. HBO is priced at Rs 10 followed by Cartoon Network (Rs 4.25), Pogo (Rs 4.25), WB (Rs 1), and CNN International (Rs 0.5).

Turner has four bouquet packs namely Turner Kids, Turner Family, Turner HD, and Turner Family HD. The SD bouquets are priced at Rs 4.25 and Rs 10 respectively while the two HD bouquets are priced at Rs 12.5 each.

Eenadu Television

The broadcaster has eight channels in its bouquet and plans to launch four HD variants of its entertainment channels. ETV and ETV HD are priced at Rs 17 and Rs 19 respectively. ETV Plus and ETV Cinema have an MRP of Rs 7 and Rs 6 respectively. ETV Abhiruchi and ETV Life have an MRP of Rs 2 and Rs 1 respectively. The two news channels ETV Andhra Pradesh and ETV Telangana are priced at Rs 1 each.

The broadcaster plans to launch four HD channels namely ETV Plus HD, ETV Cinema HD, ETV Abhiruchi HD, and ETV Life HD. The four channels have an MRP of Rs 9, Rs 8, Rs 3 and Rs 2 respectively.

The broadcaster has two bouquets – basic and HD – priced Rs 24 and Rs 29 respectively. ETV Andhra Pradesh and ETV Telangana are present in both the bouquets.
