Broadcast India Show-owner NürnbergMesse acquires SCaT India Tradeshow

MUMBAI: Exhibition company NürnbergMesse has acquired SCaT India Tradeshow, India’s largest exhibition exclusively for the Indian Satellite, Cable TV, DTH, Broadband and IPTV industry.

Among the 15 largest exhibition companies in the world, NürnbergMesse owns the Broadcast India Show which focusses on technology that powers India’s vast entertainment and infotainment industry.

With the acquisition of SCaT India Tradeshow, the company has combined SCaT India and Broadcast India Show to launch Content India Show under the umbrella of A.B.I.S (Asia’s Broadcasting & Infotainment Show) to create a one-stop platform for the media & infotainment industry in India.

A.B.I.S – Asia’s Broadcasting & Infotainment Show will be held in Mumbai, from 29-31 October 2020. The event will have a plethora of workshops, conferences, seminars, exhibits, product launches, live demos, networking platforms, panel discussions, and knowledge exchange forums.

Products and services across categories, genres and technology would be showcased during the event, through the latest innovation in production, post-production, management, syndication, licensing, and distribution.

Speaking on the occasion, NuernbergMesse GmbH CEO Peter Ottmann said, “We are delighted to consolidate our infotainment portfolio in the Indian market. The acquisition of SCaT and the launch of Content India Show is part of our well-rounded strategy to create an all-encompassing experience for the Exhibitors and visitors of this rapidly growing Industry.” The sentiment is also echoed by Dr. Roland Fleck, CEO, NuernbergMesse GmbH “The acquisition represents yet another chapter in the success story of NuernbergMesse India. With this latest member in our trade fair portfolio, our Indian subsidiary is once again reinforcing its position as one of the leading exhibition organiser of the Indian subcontinent.”

This cluster of shows will encapsulate the entire infotainment ecosystem – from production, post-production to management, delivery and content distribution. It will showcase new innovation and disruptive technologies in the infotainment and media sector by converging industries.

Sudeep Malhotra and Dinyar Contractor, Promoters of the SCaT India Tradeshow and the Satellite & Cable TV magazine, are convinced of the excellent synergy the three events derive and present.

“India is the world’s 2nd largest CATV market with 197 million TV homes and over 120 Million Cable TV & DTH homes and is growing at 6% per annum. The ScaT India Tradeshow covers an important sub-segment of the broadcast & broadband industry and by being integrated under the A.B.I.S. umbrella, the audience will have an opportunity to experience the latest in their respective sector and get a broader overview of the latest trends and innovations in the Industry at large. Furthermore, we are confident that NuernbergMesse India will carry forward the legacy of the event to greater and newer heights,” they said.

The Indian Media & Entertainment industry is projected to grow at a pace of 14% over the period of 2016 to 2021, outshining the global average of 4.2% CAGR (Compounded Annual Growth Rate). India is the second-largest Internet consumer (behind China) and third-largest Cable TV market (following China and USA) in the world, with advertising revenues expected to have the highest CAGR of 30.2%. With the Indian media market expected to reach USD 33.7 billion in 2020 and foreign investment in the sector at an all-time high, India is the place to be.

“The idea of A.B.I.S. took shape because of the interesting position the Indian broadcast and infotainment industry holds on the global forum. It will integrate the fragmented sectors within the broadcast, cable, satellite, content, broadband, media and infotainment industry onto a single platform, thus creating an exceptional proposition,” said NürnbergMesse India Chairperson of the Management Board & Managing Director Sonia Prashar.
