ALTBalaji’s next original series ‘Gandi Baat’ to explore stories from rural India
MUMBAI: Video streaming platform ALTBalaji has unveiled its next original series ‘Gandi Baat’. The 10-episode web series will feature stories from rural India.
According to ALTBalaji, each episode of the show will tell a different story about relationships and taboos. It will also explore topics and stories that exist in every section of the society but are never spoken about or discussed openly.”
The platform said the series will be in the form of an anthology, with stories based on “true rumours”.
‘Gandi Baat’ joins a list of 15 original shows produced and hosted by ALTBalaji.
ALTBalaji had reported half a million paid customers for the quarter ended 31 December.
The paid customers include users accessing and paying for the service through third-party telecom apps. The company has an integration deal with Vodafone’s OTT app Vodafone Play.
ALTBalaji also reported gross billing of Rs 4.4 crore for the quarter compared to Rs 3.2 crore in the trailing quarter. Gross billing is total collections until 31 December 2017.
The OTT service had 10 million app downloads and 1.2 million web traffic. The web traffic does not include users accessing the service through third-party telecom apps such as Vodafone Play. The OTT platform had recently inked a content deal with Reliance Jio.
The OTT player reported 433 million minutes of video consumption since launch. The average watch per user is 98 minutes. The average time is calculated as total time watched by paying users divided by the total number of paying users.
