ALTBalaji COO Sunil Nair calls it quits
MUMBAI: ALTBalaji COO Sunil Nair has resigned from his role to pursue new adventures. His last day at ALTBalaji will be 30th September. He had joined ALTBalaji in June 2015.
“After 52 months with ALTBalaji, I have resigned from my role as the Chief Operating Officer of ALTBalaji to pursue new adventures. My last day at ALTBalaji will be 30 September 2019,” Nair said on his LinkedIn account.
As COO, Nair was responsible for building India’s first pure-play original video content platform. His key focus areas included strategy, marketing, revenue, business development, alliances, platform, technology and big data inference engines.
Nair was part of the team that launched the ALTBalaji service successfully on 16th April 2017. The platform has seen significant growth ever sine both in terms of consumption as well as revenue.
“ALTBalaji SVOD platform is deep and wide with not just Android and iOS apps. The service is available on Windows Universal App, Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, Opera TV, Jio STB and very soon on smart STBs of DTH providers. We have integrated with payment options that cover all wallets and digital payment options. The service is also preloaded on OEMs, available bundled with e-commerce portals and as part of the entertainment packs of major telcos,” Nair stated.
Before ALTBalaji, Sunil has held leadership positions in Reliance Jio, Star TV and OneChannel Media LLC. He had also set up the first online video distribution platform Nautanki.tv, which was acquired by Hungama in 2010. He is also active in the startup circle as an advisor and mentor.
