Airtel Digital TV sees slower growth in Q3, crosses 15 mn net subs mark

MUMBAI: Airtel Digital TV, the direct to home (DTH) arm of Bharti Airtel, has seen a QoQ growth of 3.38% in its operating profit at Rs 382.6 crore for the quarter ended 31st December compared to Rs 396 crore in the trailing quarter.

EBITDA margin has fallen to 37% compared to 28.7%. EBIT has dropped 17.69% to Rs 156.8 crore compared to Rs 190.5 crore a quarter ago. Total revenue has seen a marginal increase at Rs 1033 crore compared to Rs 1024.2 crore.

The DTH operator’s capital expenditure during the quarter was higher by 82% at Rs 326.8 crore compared to Rs 179.7 crore in the trailing quarter. The resultant operating free cash flow during the quarter was at Rs 55.8 crore as compared to Rs 216.3 crore a quarter ago.

Airtel Digital TV crossed the 15 million net subscriber mark with net customer additions of 222,000 during the quarter compared to 133,000 in Q2. The average revenue per user (ARPU) was Rs 231 as compared to Rs 232.

As of 31st December, the DTH platform was offering a total of 694 channels including 78 HD channels, 5 international channels, and 3 interactive services.
