Airtel Digital TV posts Q2 operating profit of Rs 560.7 cr
MUMBAI: Bharti Airtel’s direct to home (DTH) has posted an operating profit of Rs 560.7 crore during the September quarter as against Rs 526.3 crore in the trailing quarter ended June.
The reported EBITDA margin was 71% in the current quarter as compared to 71.2% in Q1. The company’s EBIT declined to Rs 324.3 crore compared to Rs 361.2 crore in Q1.
Total revenue increased to Rs 789.3 crore from Rs 738.9 crore. The company generated an operating free cash flow of Rs 355.6 crore compared to Rs 282.6 crore. Capex deployment stood at Rs 205.2 crore compared to Rs 243.7 crore.
Airtel Digital TV, the company’s DTH brand, added 181,000 net subscribers compared to 634,000 in the trailing quarter. The net subscriber base increased by 1.1% QoQ to 16.2 million from 16.02 million.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 3.8% to Rs 162 from Rs 157. The monthly churn also increased to 1.6% from 1%.
During the quarter, the company launched converged digital entertainment play Airtel Xstream that provides satellite TV and over the top (OTT) content.
Airtel Digital TV offers a total of 640 channels including 84 HD channels, 7 international channels, and 4 interactive services.
