AIR launches multimedia web radio service in Odia language for diaspora
MUMBAI: All India Radio has launched a multimedia web radio service in an Odia language for the Odia diaspora spread across the globe. The service was launched by the AIR’s External Services yesterday which coincided with the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath.
The internet and app-based service, the first-ever in Odia language service will feature national and regional news, current affairs, music, programmes based on culture, literature, heritage, tourism, and economy, among other topics.
The web service will also feature interactive internet radio, linked to various social media platforms. The interactive radio would be consists of the Odia language lessons for the young children of the Odia PIOs and NRIs to keep in touch with their mother tongue.
Director of External Services Amlanjyoti Mazumdar said that with the launch of the service, the number of external Indian language services of the All India Radio has gone up to 13. “The service launch was in line with the Prasar Bharati Board’s decision to expand the global digital outreach of the Prasar Bharati,” he said.
