ABP News Network’s Punjabi news channel launches in Canada
MUMBAI: ABP News Network (ANN) has launched its Punjabi news channel ABP Sanjha in Canada in partnership with Canada-based Parvasi Media Group. ABP Sanjha is not a full-fledged satellite TV channel and is currently available only on YouTube.
ANN was planning to launch ABP Sanjha in 2015, however, the channel folded up even before it saw the light of the day due to its inability to get distribution on Punjab’s leading multi system operator (MSO) Fastway Transmission. Since then, ABP Sanjha has been operating as a digital news channel by uploading content on YouTube and its official website.
After shelving the Punjabi news channel, the network launched its fourth news channel in Gujarati called ABP Asmita.
With a programming line-up which includes shows on religion, entertainment, profiling successful Punjabis, sports to even relevant immigration regulations, ABP Sanjha offers content relevant to Punjabis.
ANN COO Avinash Pandey said, “There has always been a very strong demand from the Punjabi community in Canada, for a channel which not just informs them about their homeland, but rather connects them back to it. This was evident to us through the fact that ABP Sanjha was already very popular on the VoD platform. And now with ABP Sanjha available 24×7 on both cable and online platforms, we are confident that the Canadian Punjabi community will finally get the content it has always desired and deserved.”
ANN owns and operates four satellite channels namely ABP News (Hindi), ABP Ananda (Bengali), ABP Majha (Marathi) and ABP Asmita (Gujarati).
