TRAI invites applications for broadcasting advisor

MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has invited applications for filling up the post of advisor (broadcasting and cable services) on deputation on foreign service terms at TRAI’s New Delhi headquarters for a period of two years.

The pay scale for the post is Rs 37,400–67,000 plus GP of Rs 10,000.

Economic work related to wholesale and retail tariffs and interconnection issues will be an integral part of the officer’s work. The officer will also have to work closely with the government to implement cable TV digitisation.

The gamut of sector services will cover cable TV (digital and analogue), direct-to-home, IPTV, terrestrial radio, radio and public broadcasting services. The work will cover general management as well as economic and social dimensions of all forms of media.

TRAI has asked all the ministries/departments, central public service undertakings, as well as statutory and autonomous bodies to forward applications along with attested copies of annual confidential reports (ACRs) for the last five years and vigilance/disciplinary clearance of eligible candidates.

Applications must be sent to senior research officer (A&P) at TRAI headquarters on or before 3 August.

The authority said that the post is exempted from the rule of immediate absorption up to 23 January 2016 by the Department of Pensioner & Pensioners Welfare for appointment on deputation.

Officers in selection grade with four years of regular service in that grade or Grade A officers having 17 years of regular service in Group A with at least four years of regular service may be in the selection grade.

The qualification for the post is master’s/bachelor degree in business administration/economics/commerce/engineering/law/science/humanities from a recognised university or membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Working Accountants of India.
