Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ is first 2017 show to enter top 5
MUMBAI: Among the shows launched this year in the Hindi GEC space, Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ has become the first to rate in the top 5.
In the week ended 3 March, the show grabbed the third spot in the top 5 chart, according to BARC data.
The recently launched singing reality show competed with Colors’ live show ‘Rising Star’. With 1.08 crore impressions across urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM) in Week 9, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ won the first battle of the singing reality shows. It is still too early to conclude on how the show will perform in its entire journey.
‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ airs at 9 pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Out of the 13 new shows launched so far in 2017, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ is the only show to make its mark on the top 5 chart so far.
Commenting on the strong opening, Zee TV business head Deepak Rajadhyaksha said, “In terms of non-fiction, the last season of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ broke all records of 2016 on television, delivering the highest ratings for a non-fiction episode. Now with the grand opening of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’, we have only strengthened our weekend line-up and are poised for a successful season. We have on board Himesh Reshammiya, Javed Ali and Neha Kakkar as mentors, who not only have a way with kids but also have the ability to step in as role models and guiding forces for their growth as singers. We have enlisted the support of 30 music connoisseurs—experts in the music fraternity who will aid the selection process and their grooming through and through. We aim to set even higher benchmarks of excellence with this season of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’.”
The other singing reality shows are SET’s ‘Indian Idol’, Star Plus’ ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ and &TV’s ‘The Voice India’.
This year’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’ is based on the ‘back-to-school’ format, with the L’il Champs representing their schools. For the first time, the show has a panel of 30 jury members from the music fraternity. They closely assess the talents from the audition stage and help the mentors in the selection process. The kids are mentored by music Himesh Reshammiya, Javed Ali and Neha Kakkar.
