Zee TV to air ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ after a gap of 4 years
MUMBAI: After a hiatus of four years, singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ will be back on Zee TV from 26 March.
Popular Indi-pop and Bollywood playback singer Milka Singh will appear on ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ as a mentor for the first time. The other mentors include the Dabangg duo of Bollywood music Sajid-Wajid and the multiple award-winning Pritam Chakraborty. Aditya Narayan will return to host the upcoming season.
‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ will air on Saturdays and Sundays, at 9.30 pm. Amul is the title sponsor and the show is powered by Flipkart. Hyundai has also joined as a sponsor.
After screening 50,000 entries over eight weeks of auditions across 14 cities, India’s most talented singers will compete in the new season of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’.
For the first time ever, a panel of 30 jury members will closely assess the aspiring singers right from the audition stage and help the mentors in the selection process.
Commenting on the launch of the new season, Zee TV business head Pradeep Hejmadi said, “Having wrapped up an immensely successful second season of India’s Best Dramebaaz, another homegrown format that encourages the creativity and acting abilities of children, we now present our most iconic non-fiction property. Having pioneered the space of talent-based reality television since 1995 and served as a beacon of hope for countless singers across the country, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa continues to grow from strength to strength with each successive season. We are proud to have given the music fraternity some incredible talent who are inspirations and role models for contemporary India today. They have emerged as singers, music composers and hosts whom viewers adore and aspirants idolize. Through its immensely successful brand extensions such as Li’l Champs, the platform has also nurtured the vocal talents of gifted, young children. With its presence of over 21 years, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s upcoming season promises to be younger, refreshing and more entertaining than ever before.”
Launched in 1995, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ has evolved its format over the years from episodic winners to a pyramid structure. Some of the finds from the show over the last two decades are Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Shekhar Ravjiani, Bela Shende, Sanjivani, Kamal Khan and Ranjeet Rajwada.
Said Essel Vision Productions business head Akash Chawla, “This season marks a strong differentiator for Sa Re Ga Ma as we introduce a new format. We have enlisted the support of 30 music connoisseurs – experts in the music fraternity who will aid the selection process right from the outset. This will be the first time that a singing reality show will have a jury of experts beyond its mentors to arrive at the finest talent. One singer will be evaluated from 30 different perspectives of music. So, the challenge for each aspirant only gets tougher.”
The hunt for the country’s best singers has spanned across 14 cities including Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Indore, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
