Zee TV ropes in Ameen Sayani for radio spots on ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’

MUMBAI: Zee TV’s upcoming magnum opus ‘EK Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’ has already made headlines with its cast and opulence. In line with the show’s proposition of #TurnBackTime, the channel has recorded radio spots with iconic radio announcer Ameen Sayani.

A voice synonymous with the golden age of All India Radio, Sayani will bring alive the vintage era of the show.

On being signed on by a television channel to promote a show, Sayani said, “Zee TV is one of India’s finest TV channels and I’ve had the good fortune of having been quite closely associated with it during its early days. And I was very happy indeed when Zee TV approached me to record a voiceover for the radio spots of its upcoming TV serial, ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’. I wish Zee TV and its new serial the very best of success.”

Ameen Sayani shot to fame with the popular AIR show ‘Geetmala’. With a distinct connect between his golden voice and all things classic, he proved to be the ideal choice to record a vintage style radio spot for Zee TV.

Sphere Origins, the maker of the show, is pushing the envelope with regard to research of the era and production values that ensure authenticity.

Besides Sayani, Big FM’s popular show ‘Yadaon Ka Idiot box’ hosted by writer Neelesh Mishra will also give viewers a sneak preview of ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Ran’ on 24 July between 9 and 11 pm.

Furthermore, on 27 July, three Big FM RJs will give trivia on fashion, cuisine and style of the 1940s.

‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’ launches on 27 July, airing at 9:30 pm from Monday to Friday on Zee TV.
