Zee TV grabs No. 2 spot
MUMBAI: Zee TV grabbed the second position from Colors in the 28th week of 2016 in the urban and rural markets combined, even as Star Plus cemented its leadership by registering viewership gain. Colors fell to the third position.
For the week ended 15 July, Life OK moved a level up to the sixth position, while Sony Pal, which was No. 6 in the previous week, fell to the seventh position. The rankings of other channels remained intact.
Top Hindi GEC shows
Zee TV’s tent-pole show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ emerged as the most-watched GEC programme during the week. Other shows in the top 5 included ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ (Star Plus), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (Star Plus), ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ (Star Plus) and ‘Jodha Akbar’ (Zee TV).
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
The Hindi GEC top order in urban Hindi-speaking markets (HSM) did not see any change, with Star Plus, Colors and Zee TV remaining the top three channels.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) progressed to the fourth position from the previous week’s fifth position.
Life OK also moved a level up to the fifth spot, while SAB TV dropped to the sixth position. The bottom four positions remained unchanged.
Top Hindi shows in Urban HSM
‘Kumkum Bhagya’ bagged the top honours in the urban market.
The top five shows for the urban market also included ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and ‘Kasam’.
‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ completed the top five.
Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
The Hindi GEC pecking order in rural HSM remained unchanged, with Zee Anmol at the top and SET at No. 10.
Top Hindi GEC shows in Rural HSM
Three shows from Zee Anmol (‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Bandini’ and ‘Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa’) and two from Zee TV (‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Raani’) were the top five shows in the rural market.
Top Hindi movie channels
Rishtey Cineplex once again entered the top 5 of the Hindi movie genre, which otherwise did not see any major change.
Star Utsav Movies was pushed out of the top 5.
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Fan’ on Sony Max was the most-watched programme in the genre. At No. 5 was ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ on Zee Cinema.
The remaining three slots were occupied by Pro Kabaddi League matches on Star Gold.
