Zee TV brings back ‘Cinestars Ki Khoj’ after eight years
MUMBAI: After a hiatus of eight years, Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Zee TV has revived its big-ticket non-fiction property ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’.
Airing from 5 July at 9 pm on weekends, the talent show will provide a break between the back-to-back ‘Dance India Dance’ franchises currently airing on the channel.
Zee TV programming head Namit Sharma said, “Zee TV has always stood for celebrating the talent of India’s common man. In 1995, the channel created the trailblazing singing reality show with ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and presented the entertainment fraternity with some of its leading singers such as Shreya Ghoshal. ‘Dance India Dance’, similarly, gave hope to a million dance enthusiasts across the country, making stars out of Shakti Mohan, Dharmesh and Prince. After revolutionising the worlds of singing and dancing, Zee TV is all set to make a similar impact on the world of acting with its exciting reality series ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’. The sheer range of performances spanning diverse styles of acting will make the show a one-stop destination for entertainment.”
In its third season, the 13-week reality series will feature ‘Dhoom 3’ director Vijay Krishna Acharya, aka Victor, and Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre on the jury panel.
Sharma added, “We’ve roped in a number of achievers from the film fraternity to be a part of the selection and grooming process of our contestants. This will take our contestants’ exposure to the real world of films to the next level.”
Guiding and mentoring the aspiring contestants will be the young blood from the film industry Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana. They will inspire the contestants with their own experiences during the audition.
“Parineeti’s journey from being a PR consultant and an aspiring investment banker to a leading cinestar is remarkable to say the least. Ayushmann, a rank outsider with no film connections, has made it big entirely on the merit of his sheer talent. His versatility encompasses everything from singing and anchoring to acting. The insights they can share will add immense value to the learning process of our contestants,” he stated.
The show has been designed in such a way that the viewers and the judges will have equal say in deciding who will be India’s next big cinestar.
The channel recently concluded a series of auditions across 18 cities to scout for promising acting talent.
Zee TV and production houses Essel Vision and Trompe l’œil Media are considering other actors and renowned directors for the third spot on the judges’ panel.
The show will put its participants through a slew of challenging rounds to test their creativity and ability of enacting a variety of different roles. Spanning diverse genres like romance, comedy, drama, dance and action, the contestants will be required to prove their versatility, presence of mind, spontaneity and sheer mettle across these different acting styles.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with film-makers, actors, choreographers and be groomed by them.
Glam Up has come on board as the powered-by sponsor.
