Vijay TV to ring in Puthandu with special shows

MUMBAI: Tamil general entertainment channels are gearing up with special programming to ring in the Tamil New Year or Puthandu on 14 April. With Zee Tamizh focusing on a mix of movies and shows,  Star India’s Tamil channel Vijay TV is all set to add a dose of movie premieres and chat shows for its viewers.

Commencing the occasion on a spiritual note, the channel will air ‘Mangala Isai Tamil Puthandu’ at 6 am, a half-an-hour special on traditional songs.

This will be followed by a spiritual discourse of Sri Muralidharan Swamiji at 6:30 am. Super hit songs will greet viewers at 7 am, ‘Puthandu Palangal’ at 7:30 am and a special show ‘Super Star In Kochadayan’ at 8:30 am.

‘Super Star In Kochadayan’ will present a look at the upcoming 3D animated film directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin and written by KS Ravikumar, and starring Rajinikanth, R Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff and Nassar.

At 9 am, a fun-filled debate show ‘Patti Mandram’ will be aired on the topic ‘Who sacrifice the most for the welfare of a family—men or women?’ The speakers for this show are Sivakasi Ramachandran, Mohana Sundaram, Sumathi, Manikandan, Uma Maheswari and TS Prema, with Arivoli moderating the debate.

This will be followed by yet another chat show with actor Vishal at 10 am. Actors Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika Motwani will share their experiences of their latest film ‘Maan Karate’ at 11 am in the show ‘Darling Dambakku Tamil Puthandu’.

After a fun-filled morning with chat shows and super hit songs, the channel gears up for back-to-back movie premieres starting at 12 noon.

The first movie to be premiered will be the romantic thriller ‘Ivan Vera Maadri’ directed by M Saravanan and produced by Linguswamy.

At 3 pm, the channel will feature yet another romantic movie ‘Irandaam Ulagam’ which revolves around two love stories simultaneously occurring in two parallel worlds. One is the real world and the other is a fantasy world. This fantasy love story is directed by K Selvaraghavan.

The channel will end the day with the blockbuster movie ‘Viswaroopam’ at 7 pm. Kamal Haasan gives a masterful performance in this critically acclaimed espionage thriller.
