TLC to enter relationships and dating genre
MUMBAI: In its attempt to differentiate itself further from the competition, Discovery India’s lifestyle channel TLC will enter the relationships and dating genre.
Discovery South Asia VP female, family entertainment products Rajiv Bakshi said, “Relationships and dating is a new genre. For women it is important but is not present. If you look at digital, there is huge appetite for the subject.”
Another genre that TLC is upping the ante on is style. Other genres like food, fashion and travel will continue to be showcased, and today audiences want what is most relevant. The challenge for him is to keep TLC relevant and ahead of the curve through content and innovation.
Celebrity stylist Aalim Hakim will appear in the new season of ‘Style Inc. with Aalim Hakim’. Featuring Bollywood stars, the series will aim to be the viewer’s gateway to the lives of celebrities.
The show kicks off on 20 October and will air every Thursday and Friday at 10 pm. Repeats air on Saturday and Sunday at 6 pm, on TLC and TLC HD World.
The second season of the series features actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ayushmann Khurrana, Tiger Shroff and the evergreen Sanjay Dutt, among others. Viewers will watch Aalim transform their favourite stars for movies, photo shoots and ad films, and will showcase the relationship they share with Bollywood’s go-to stylist.
Bakshi said, “We are overwhelmed by the tremendous response the series has received on social platforms. Aalim is the go-to stylist in Bollywood, and viewers will get direct access to the latest trends in grooming and styling. Style is the new buzz word and no one does it better than the new generation of Bollywood actors.”
Hakim said, “It is so exciting to witness this shift in India towards styling and grooming. I am super charged to be doing the second season of ‘Style Inc.’ with TLC. Fans will get to see Bollywood’s youngest and most stylish stars and get to know their style mantras.”
Known for his fresh styling techniques and diverse interests, Aalim has contributed significantly to the country’s hairstyling industry. With his exceptional skills, talent and his modernism, he has widely gained recognition in the sector.
