Star Utsav ousts Zee TV to take 2nd spot
MUMBAI: Free-to-air (FTA) Hindi GEC Star Utsav toppled Zee TV to clinch the No. 2 position in the urban and rural HSM combine, as per BARC India data for the week until 12 August.
Zee TV slipped to the third spot, pushing the previous week’s No. 3 channel Colors to the fourth slot.
The remaining positions including that of Star Plus at the top remained virtually unchanged.
Top 5 shows
With its tent-pole show reigning at the top, Zee TV had a reason to cheer as its newly launched supernatural weekend show ‘Brahmarakshas: Jaag Utha Shaitaan’ entered the list of the top five shows in the very first week of its launch. Star Plus had two shows in the top 5 while Colors had one.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
In the urban HSM, the top three channels remained unchanged. Star Plus was at the top, followed by Colors and then Zee TV.
SAB TV took the fourth slot by pushing Life OK to the fifth slot. Life OK, in turn, pushed Sony Entertainment Television (SET) to the sixth slot. The remaining positions remained unchanged.
Top shows in Urban HSM
Zee TV had two of its shows in the top 5, while SAB TV, SET and Star Plus had one show each.
Top Hindi GECS in Rural HSM
The top eight positions in the rural HSM saw no change. While Star Utsav stayed at the top, Zee Anmol occupied the second position and Sony Pal the third.
SET and Big Magic swapped the ninth and 10th positions between them.
Top Hindi shows in Rural HSM
Barring Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, FTA channels reigned supreme as far as the top five shows in the rural HSM are concerned.
Hindi movie channels
Sony Max solidly held on to its No. 1 position in the Hindi movie genre, despite shedding viewership.
Zee Cinema gained the second position at the expense of Star Gold, which fell to the fourth position.
FTA channel Sony Wah improved its ranking by moving to the third position. Rishtey Cineplex entered the top 5 by toppling &Pictures.
In terms of the week’s top five shows, Sony Max and Zee Cinema took two slots each, with Star Gold keeping the remaining position.
‘The Return of Rebel’ was the most-watched movie of the week, followed by ‘3 Idiots’.
