Star Plus unveils epic saga ‘Siya Ke Ram’; to hit screens in November
MUMBAI: After presenting the magnum opus ‘Mahabharat’, leading Hindi GEC Star Plus has unveiled their new epic saga ‘Siya Ke Ram’. The show will hit the TV screens in November, around the occasion of Diwali.
The epic tale of ‘Ramayan’ will be told for the first time from the lens of Sita, giving viewers a fresh perspective.
A statement from the channel mentions, “Star Plus has always stood for compelling stories featuring strong, empowered and inspirational women protagonists. Now the channel is bringing to its viewers a fresh perspective on Ramayan, ‘Siya Ke Ram’ where the story will be seen from Sita’s perspective.”
A channel spokesperson said, “Star Plus wants to present Sita as a multi-faceted woman with a mind of her own who was Ram’s ardhangini in the true sense of the word, thus making her relatable to every woman of today. Sita continues to be relevant to this day and we want to pay tribute to the modern Indian woman by presenting Sita’s inspiring story.”
The first look of the show was released by the channel on 14 October and it encapsulated the scale and grandeur of the epic, while highlighting the key differentiator of Sita who has a point of view.
In fact, in the promo, the first shot of the temple is of the archaeological site in Karnataka called ‘Group of Monuments at Pattadakal’.
“The story is such that it will run on the channel for at least a year. The magnum opus will see very less use of CG unlike other shows and that is why we planned intense outdoor shoots,” a source said.
‘Siya Ke Ram’ has been conceptualised by Aniruddh Pathak who brought Lord Shiva’s legend to TV through ‘Mahadev’ on Life OK. The story has been envisioned and created by renowned writers like the best-selling author of ‘Asura’ and ‘Ajaya’, Anand Neelakantan and writer Subrat Sinha along with creative consultant Devdutt Pattanaik.
Post the success of ‘Mahadev’, Triangle Film Company is continuing their successful association with Star India as the makers of this magnum opus.
The show was set to release much earlier in the year, with the channel releasing the first look months ago. However, given the grandeur of the saga, the outdoor shoots were very extensive and hence it got delayed.
