Star Plus, Sony Pal dominate Hindi GEC universe; ‘Naagin 2’ is top show
MUMBAI: There was no major change in the pecking order of Hindi GECs as Star Plus continued to rule the urban + rural Hindi-speaking markets (HSM).
As per BARC India data for Week 12, the channel garnered 72.83 crore weekly impressions, down 2.23% from the earlier week.
Colors stayed at the second spot with 63.08 crore weekly impressions, a drop of 2.97% from the earlier week.
Sony Pal ranked third with 60.31 crore weekly impressions, followed by Zee TV at the fourth place. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) slipped to the ninth spot, while Star Utsav grabbed the eighth position.
Top 5 shows in U+R HSM
‘Naagin 2’ maintained its lead across all the three markets. The show is currently being aired on Colors as well as sibling free-to-air (FTA) channel Rishtey.
Sony SAB’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ dropped to the fifth rank while Star Plus’ ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ went out of the list.
The rest of the positions remained unchanged.
Top Hindi GECs in urban HSM
Star Plus and Colors dominated the first and second positions on the urban HSM chart, 48.48 crore and 42.14 crore weekly impressions, respectively.
Zee TV continued on the growth path as it moved up to the third spot with 31.88 crore weekly impressions. SET dropped to the fourth place. The rest of the pecking order remained the same.
Top 5 shows in urban HSM
‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ went out of the list. Colors’ ‘Shani’ entered the chart at the fifth rank.
Top Hindi GECs in rural HSM
Sony Pal continued to be the top channel in the rural HSM with 43.81 crore weekly impressions. Zee Anmol bagged the second spot with 38.99 crore impressions.
Rishtey, meanwhile, dropped a stair to be in the third place with 38.12 crore weekly impressions.
Like OK swapped positions with Sony SAB for the eighth position. The hierarchy, otherwise, remained unaltered.
Top 5 shows in rural HSM
While ‘Naagin 2’ on Rishtey maintained its top spot, the rest of the chart saw some changes with new show entries. Zee Anmol’s three shows, namely ‘Jodha Akbar,’ ‘Tashan E Ishq’ and ‘Jamai Raja’, got a mention. Sony Pal’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ entered the chart at No. 4.
