Star Plus remains top Hindi GEC; Zee Anmol is No. 1 in rural HSM
MUMBAI: After the top three, the next rung of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) belong to the free-to-air (FTA) space. In Week 26, though, there is a change in the pecking order in this bunch with Zee Anmol jumping two ranks to occupy the fourth spot on the Hindi GEC chart (urban & rural combined, HSM).
Star Utsav vacates that spot to be the No. 5 Hindi GEC while Sony Pal goes down a ladder to be the No. 6 channel, according to BARC data for Week 26.
Star Plus remains at the top spot, Colors at No. 2 and Zee TV at No. 3.
SAB swaps place with Sony Entertainment Television (SET) to take the No. 8 spot. Rishtey stays put at No. 10.
Top Hindi GEC shows
Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was the week’s top show. ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’, both on Star Plus, took the second and third spots respectively.
‘Jodha Akbar’ on Zee Anmol was the week’s fourth most-watched show, followed by ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’ on Zee TV.
Top Hindi GECs in urban HSM
In the urban markets, SAB climbed two places to the No. 4 spot while Life Ok slipped a notch to No. 5 and SET fell to No. 6.
There was no change in the top three order as Star Plus continued to lead the genre.
Top shows in urban HSM
In the urban markets, ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ on Star Plus was the No. 1 show. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on Zee TV was at No. 2, followed by ‘Saath Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ on Star Plus.
Top Hindi GECs in rural HSM
In the rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM), Zee Anmol jumped two ranks to be the top Hindi GEC.
Star Utsav was ousted from the top spot to be the No. 2 Hindi GEC in rural HSM. Sony Pal slipped a rank down to be at No. 3.
There was no change in the pecking order after that.
Top Hindi GEC shows in rural HSM
The top five shows were shared between Zee Anmol and Zee TV. The top two were Zee Anmol shows, ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Bandini’. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on Zee TV was at No. 3.
Top Hindi movie channels
Sony Wah and Rishtey Cineplex made it to the top five list while Star Utsav Movies and Movies OK moved out.
There was no change in the top three order. Max led the genre, followed by Star Gold at No. 2 and Zee Cinema at No. 3.
Sony Wah was at No. 4 and Rishtey Cineplex was at No. 5.
Top Hindi programmes on movie channels
Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’, telecast on Sony Max, was the week’s top Hindi movie. ‘Sooryavansham’, which also aired on Sony Max, was at No. 2. ‘Ghayal Once Again’ on Zee Cinema was at No. 3.
The first and ninth matches of the Pro Kabaddi League 4, both of which aired on Star Gold, were at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
