Star Plus reclaims Hindi GEC throne in Wk 14
MUMBAI: After slipping to the second position the previous week, Hindi GEC Star Plus reclaimed the Hindi GEC throne from Sony Pal in the week ended 7 April.
According to BARC data for Week 14, Star Plus recorded 69.12 crore weekly impressions in the urban + rural Hindi-speaking markets (HSM), up from its previous 68.15 million impressions. The viewership of the channel increased by 1.43%.
Sony Pal moved to the second spot with 60.34 crore weekly impressions, a drop by 14.12% from the earlier week.
Colors stayed put at No. 3 with 58.82 crore weekly impressions, registering a drop of 7.92%.
Colors’ FTA sibling Rishtey swapped places with Zee TV for the fourth rank with 49.62 crore weekly impressions.
Star Plus’ sibling FTA channel Star Utsav jumped to the sixth position with 43.02 crore weekly impressions.
Zee Anmol slipped to the seventh spot while Sony SAB dropped to the ninth spot. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Life OK held on to their respective eighth and tenth positions.
Top 5 shows in U+R HSM
‘Naagin 2’ maintained its lead across all three markets. The show was No. 1 in urban + rural HSM and urban HSM on Colors. In the rural market, where it aired on Rishtey, it got the fourth spot.
Colors’ ‘Shakti’ entered the chart at No. 4 while ‘Shani’ exited the list. Zee TV’s ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs’ fell to the fifth position. The rest of the order remained same.
Top Hindi GECs in urban HSM
There was no change in the pecking order. Star Plus and Colors continued to be the No. 1 and No. 2 channels on the urban HSM chart respectively. While Star Plus registered 47.51 crore weekly impressions, up by 2.89%, Colors weekly impressions dropped by 7.14%.
Zee TV stayed at No. 3 with 28.80 crore weekly impressions. The hierarchy remained unaltered.
Top 5 shows in urban HSM
Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ moved to the second position while Zee TV ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ slipped to the third spot.
Colors’ ‘Shakti’ moved up to the fourth rank while ‘Shani’ went out of the list.
Sony SAB’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ entered the list at No. 5.
Top Hindi GECs in rural HSM
Sony Pal continued to be the top channel in the rural HSM with 45.45 crore weekly impressions. Rishtey grabbed the second spot with 37.25 crore impressions, while Zee Anmol, with 32.88 crore weekly impressions, fell to the third rank.
Star Utsav remained at the fourth rank, while Star Plus swapped places with Zee TV for the fifth rank. Big Magic moved up to the eighth spot. SET entered the list at No. 10 while Life OK exited the list.
Top 5 shows in rural HSM
Sony Pal dominated the chart with three shows. ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ led the chart, followed by ‘CID’ and ‘Balveer’ at the second and the third rank respectively.
‘Naagin 2’, which aired on Rishtey and Colors, got a double mention as it grabbed the fourth and the fifth rank respectively.
