Star Plus maintains lead in Week 29

MUMBAI: The hierarchy of Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) witnessed hardly any change in Week 29, as per BARC India data.

Star Plus maintained its lead in urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM) with 63.21 crore weekly impressions. The channel saw miniscule growth of 0.48% compared to the previous week.

Zee TV stayed at No. 2 with 63.20 crore weekly impressions, a growth of 1.34%. With an impressive growth of 12.53%, Zee Anmol climbed to the third spot, clocking 58.94 crore weekly impressions.

Rishtey with 58.94 crore weekly impressions dropped to the fourth spot, witnessing a fall of 8%.

While Sony Pal and Colors maintained their fifth and sixth spots with 57.30 crore and 50.42 crore weekly impressions respectively, Sony Entertainment Television (SET) moved up to the seventh rank with 39.93 crore weekly impressions.

Sony Sab with 38.90 crore weekly impressions dropped to the eighth place, whereas Life OK and Star Utsav maintained their ninth and tenth positions respectively.


Top 5 shows in U+R HSM

Zee TV had three shows on BARC’s top 5 chart in urban + rural HSM. The channel’s popular singing reality show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ held on to its top spot, while ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ slipped to the third rank.

The channel’s newly launched show ‘Kundali ‘Kundali Bhagya’ stayed at No. 4.

‘Rishtey’s ‘Naagin 2’ moved up to the second position while Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ entered the chart at the fifth spot.


Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM

Star Plus ruled the roost with 43.51 crore weekly impressions. It was followed by Zee TV and Colors at the second and third positions with 38.01 and 34.58 crore weekly impressions, respectively.

SET moved up to the fourth position with 28.84 crore weekly impressions, a growth of 5.53%.

Sony Sab slipped to the fifth place with 28.46 crore weekly impressions, witnessing a drop of 1.84%.

The rest of the chart remained the same.


Top 5 shows in Urban HSM

Zee TV’s ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs’ maintained its lead on the list. It was followed by ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ at the second and third spots respectively.

Zee TV’s ‘Kundali Bhagya’ stayed at No. 4 on the chart, whereas Colors’ ‘Shakti’ entered at the fifth spot.

Sony Sab’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashma’ exited the list.


Top Hindi GECs in Rural HSM

Zee Anmol stayed at the top in the rural HSM with 48.05 crore weekly impressions, witnessing a growth of 12.77%. At the second spot, Rishtey saw a growth of 9.34%, garnering 44.40 crore weekly impressions.

Big Magic climbed to the seventh rank with 17.11 crore weekly impressions, whereas Colors dropped to the eighth rank with 15.83 crore weekly impressions.

SET entered the chart with 11.09 crore weekly impressions, while Sony SAB went out of the chart.


Top 5 shows in Rural HSM

‘Naagin 2’ on Rishtey grabbed the top spot, followed by Zee Anmol’s ‘Jamai Raja’ at No. 2.

Sony Pal saw three of its series get a mention on the chart—‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashma’ at No. 3, ‘Balveer’ at No. 4 and ‘C.I.D’ at No. 5.
