Star Plus continues to be No. 1 Hindi GEC, posts small viewership growth in Wk 17
MUMBAI: Star Plus continued to rule the Hindi GEC leader board with 64.03 crore weekly impressions in the urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM), as per Week 17 data shared by BARC. Compared to last week, Star Plus saw a miniscule growth of 0.7% in its viewership.
Sony Pal maintained its second position with 57.70 crore weekly impressions. The channel’s impressions fell 3.04% compared to the earlier week.
Colors stayed at No. 3 with 55.43 crore weekly impressions, followed by Zee TV with 52.77 impressions.
Other than Star Plus, none of the top 5 channels witnessed growth in their viewership.
Star Utsav moved a rank up to occupy the seventh position while Sony SAB dropped to the eighth spot. Life OK swapped place with Sony Entertainment Television (SET) for ninth rank, according to BARC data for the week ended 28 April.
Top 5 shows in U+R HSM
Zee TV’s ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ dethroned Colors’ supernatural thriller series ‘Naagin 2’ from its No. 1 position in the urban and urban + rural HSM. ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ accumulated 11.15 million weekly impressions.
Colors’ ‘Naagin 2’ dropped to the second rank as it lost 8.76% impressions. Zee TV’s ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ jumped to the third spot, while Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ fell to No. 4.
Sony Sab’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah’ entered the chart at No. 5, whereas Rishtey’s ‘Naagin 2’ went out of the chart.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
Star Plus and Colors maintained their first and second spots with 42.45 crore weekly impressions and 36.96 impressions, respectively.
Star Utsav moved up to the ninth position, while &TV dropped to the 10th. The rest of the order remained unchanged.
Top 5 shows in Urban HSM
Zee TV’s ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ ruled the chart, followed by Colors ‘Naagin 2’. Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ remained at the third spot.
Zee TV’s ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ jumped to the fourth spot, while Colors’ ‘Shakti’ dropped to the fifth position.
Top Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
Sony Pal ruled the ratings chart with 43.38 crore weekly impressions. The only change occurred at the bottom as Life OK swapped places with Big Magic for ninth position.
Top 5 shows in Rural HSM
Sony Pal’s two shows, ‘Baalveer’ and ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, grabbed the first and second spots respectively.
Zee Anmol’s ‘Jamai Raja’ dropped to the third spot while ‘Naagin 2’ on Rishtey slipped to the fourth. Zee Anmol’s ‘Tashan E Ishq’ entered the chart as Sony Pal’s ‘CID’ moved out.
