Star Bharat becomes number 1 GEC in U+R HSM for the first time
MUMBAI: Star India’s strategy of re-branding Life OK as Star Bharat and expanding the channel’s reach in rural HSM through distribution on free direct to home (DTH) platform Freedish is paying rich dividends.
Star Bharat, which launched on 28 August, has become the number 1 GEC in urban + rural HSM in week 45. In fact, the channel had got off to a good start right from the first week of its launch.
‘Kya Haal Panchaal’ played a significant role in the channel’s growth. The channel has displaced Zee TV at the number 1 position.
In its launch week, the channel had occupied the No. 5 spot in the Hindi GEC hierarchy in week 35 despite missing the first couple of days of BARC’s ratings for the week.
From clocking 51.97 crore impressions in week 35 to touching a whopping 68.7 crore impressions in week 45, the channel’s growth has indeed been prolific.
Zee TV slipped to the third position with 62.11 crore weekly impressions while Zee Anmol moved up to the second slot with 68.71 crore weekly impressions. Colors rose to the fourth spot while Sony Pal slipped to fifth.
Star Plus and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) maintained their respective positions at number 6 and 7. Star Utsav and Rishtey moved up a rank while SAB TV slipped to number 10.
Top 5 programs in U+R HSM
DD National’s telecast of the second day T20 India versus New Zealand was the most watched programme. Zee TV’s ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ were at second and third position respectively. Star Bharat’s ‘Kya Haal Mr Panchaal’ made an entry at the fourth position. The third T20between India versus New Zealand was the fifth position.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
Colors toppled Zee TV to become the number 1 GEC. Zee TV slipped to second position followed by Star Plus and SET. Zee Anmol and &TV swapped positons while the rest of the table remained unchanged.
Top 5 programs in Urban HSM
SAB TV’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ and Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ entered the top 5. Zee TV’s ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ were at the number 1 and 3 position. Star Plus ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ remained at the fourth position.
Top Hindi GEC in Rural HSM
Star Utsav and Rishtey moved up by a rank while Zee TV dropped to sixth position. Dangal TV and Colors moved a position up. DD National went out of the list while Big Magic entered the list at ninth position.
Top 5 programs in Urban HSM
The second T20 match between India-New Zealand on DD National was the most watched programme followed by ‘Baalveer’, third T20 between India-New Zealand, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, and ‘Ganga’.
