SRK to host Colors’ mega on-ground talent event

MUMBAI: After presenting Indian adaptations of various international formats, Hindi GEC Colors is now extending its non-fiction property ‘India’s Got Talent’ to a mega on-ground talent event that will showcase live performances by talent from both India and abroad.

Titled ‘Got Talent World Stage Live’, the event will be held on 6 December at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, and will see Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosting and performing along with other Bollywood actors.

Colors has joined hands with RFS Entertainment for the global on-ground extension and will showcase 20 premiere Indian and international talents. Among the faces visiting India will be popular illusionist Darcy Oake who has won top honours and awards for his ability to do the undoable.

Colors CEO Raj Nayak said, “We have been associated with the ‘Got Talent’ franchise for over six years now, which has not only witnessed the successful ‘India’s Got Talent’ series, but also a corporate extension in the form of ‘CEOs Got Talent’. As a broadcaster, the property holds immense potential for us because the discerning Indian audience harbours great appreciation for outstanding talent. We are looking forward to the on-ground extension of the property especially because it gives us the opportunity to raise the entertainment quotient through the exhibition of exceptional local and international talent.”

The 10 international artists who will take part in the event include talented individuals and/or groups who have created a mark for themselves through various franchises of the show across countries like Britain, Australia, Spain, China, Italy, etc. These acts will be complimented by 10 of the best artists from ‘India’s Got Talent’. In addition to Oake, the event will feature contortionists, acrobats, dancers, stunt artists and more.

‘Got Talent World Stage Live’ will be a ticketed event, with tickets going on sale next week on Book My Show. The event will be telecast on Colors at a later date. Although the ticket price was not revealed, the channel aims to keep it reasonable so that a large number of people can enjoy it live.

Nayak further stated that this would not be a one-off event and the channel would like to do it year on year with Khan’s association with it. However, producing a show of this scale was not an easy task and took two years to put together. One of the main challenges as stated by Nayak was that every time they finalised on the talent, the artists were not available as they were busy doing other things.

‘The Got Talent’ format was created and is owned by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and is co-produced by FremantleMedia India. ‘The Got Talent World Stage Live’ will be presented by RFS Entertainment and executed by CIneyug.

RFS Entertainment head Rav Singh added, “‘Got Talent World Stage Live’ marks the first time where an internationally renowned television series format will be adapted for a live audience. The promising new talent across genres proving their mettle on every available platform makes India the perfect backdrop for a showcase of this magnitude.”
