Sony puts marketing might behind ‘Mahabali Hanuman’
MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is set to launch a mythological show titled‘Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman’. To create buzz around the show, the channel has also put in all its marketing might.
Presented from the perspective of Lord Krishna, the show will capture Hanuman’s journey.
‘Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman’ goes on air from 4 May, and will air at 8 pm from Monday to Friday.
SET senior EVP and business head Nachiket Pantvaidya said, “We, at Sony Entertainment Television, would like to bring a mix of various genres to our viewers. We feel that adding the mythology genre to our offering completes the channel and we are happy to present the story of Lord Hanuman in a very unique format to our viewers. The show explores a mix of untold and popular mythology around Lord Hanuman in a never-seen-before format with mind-blowing visuals and powerhouse performances.”
The launch at India’s first live entertainment destination, Kingdom of Dreams, in Gurgaon, saw acts like a devotional dance performance that introduced the characters. The highlight was Hanuman’s flying entry in mid-air followed by Raavan’s stunts.
Aiming to create maximum buzz before the launch of the show, the channel’s marketing campaign is establishing Hanuman’s larger-than-life persona through various initiatives.
Besides large hoardings at key locations, the channel has set up a series of innovative on-ground activation initiatives.
The initiatives kicked off on Hanuman Jayanti. Branded kiosks were put up at four temples of Lord Hanuman across the state of Uttar Pradesh. Dressed as Hanuman’s Vaanar Sena, volunteers served prasad boxes and water to the devotees.
The branded kiosks were put at Sri Sankata Mochana Hanuman of Varanasi, Sri Hanuman Badi temple (old) of Aliganj, Lucknow, Sri Hanuman Badi temple (New) of Aliganj, Lucknow, and Sri Bade Hanuman of Prayagraj, Allahabad.
The channel also introduced drones that have been flying in various cities across the country over a congregation of people reciting Hanuman Chalisa. So far, the drones have been activated in Jaipur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi and Nagpur.
Going ahead, the drone activity will also be seen in cities like Bhopal, Indore and Pune.
Produced by Contiloe Productions, which is presently doing ‘Maharana Pratap’ for SET, ‘Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman’ will take viewers on a journey of Hanuman’s eventful life right from his childhood from being a devotee of Lord Ram to being the vanquisher of all evil.
The show claims to have advanced VFX effects to provide a state-of-the-art visual experience.
Contiloe CEO Abhimanyu Singh mentioned, “Contiloe has always experimented with multiple genres. This would be our first mythological show and we are pretty excited about it. The show will project the tale of the Hanumanji from his childhood. We will be using state of the art visual effects and stunts to tell this great tale of ‘Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman’. I hope audience enjoy the show as much as we have while creating the show.”

The show will star Nirbhay Wadhwa in the role of Lord Hanuman. Other central characters include Gagan Malik and Deblina Chatterjee in the roles of Ram and Sita respectively. Actor Arya Babbar will essay the role of Raavan, while Barkha Bisht will play Anjani, Hanuman’s mother.
