Sony Pix set to premiere ‘The Hobbit 3: The Battle of Five Armies’
MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media’s (MSM) English movie channel Sony Pix is premiering the mega finale of the epic series ‘The Hobbit’, ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’, adapted from the 1937 masterpiece novel.
The film will premiere on Saturday, 24 October at 9 pm.
Academy award winning director Peter Jackson, who is known for movies like ‘The Lord of the Rings’, created ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ as a sequel to ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ (2012) and ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ (2013). Together they act as the prequel to the Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy.
Marking the death of Smaug the dragon (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) and after the human ground of Laketown is blazed with destructive fire, Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) becomes the leader of mankind. The Arkenstone was a great jewel discovered beneath the roots of the Lonely Mountain during the reign of Thorin I and prized by his descendants as the ‘Heart of the Mountain’. Thorin the Dwarf King (Richard Armitage) obsessively searches for the Arkenstone and blinds himself with the cursed wealth and prosperity untying all his relations with the other races thereby locking himself inside the Lonely Mountains.
The elf king Thranduil (Lee Pace) forms an alliance with Bard in order to re-claim the Arkenstone from the dwarves, which are a part of their treasure. To avoid the battle, young hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) sneaks away from Thorin and hands over the Arkenstone to Bard and Thandruil as a peace offering. But a feud between an outraged Thorin and confused Bilbo fuels a battle like never before. While the Dwarves prepare against the Elves and the Men along with Bilbo; the orcs, ogres and filthy trolls begin the battle of five armies when they allegedly attack the city of Dale.
Apart from Luke Evans, Richard Armitage and Martin freeman, ‘The Hobbit: Battle of the five armies’ also stars Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Cate Blanchett as Lady Galadriel among others.
