Sony Pal wears Hindi GEC crown in U+R HSM for first time
MUMBAI: Free-to-air (FTA) Hindi GEC Sony Pal is wearing the Hindi GEC crown for the first time in urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM).
Sony Pal’s viewership grew 16.49% over the previous week to record 70.26 crore impressions in the week ended 31 March. In the process, it dethroned Star Plus from its No. 1 position.
According to BARC India data for Week 13, Star Plus, which had been leading the charts for five consecutive weeks, dropped to the second spot, seeing a decline of 6.43% in its weekly impressions. The channel registered 68.15 crore impressions in Week 13.
Colors moved to the third rank with 63.88 crore weekly impressions, witnessing a growth of 1.27% compared to the earlier week.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) swapped places with Star Utsav to occupy the eighth spot.
The rest of the pecking order in urban + rural HSM remained unchanged.
Top 5 shows in U+R HSM
Colors’ ‘Naagin 2’ maintained its lead in the urban + rural HSM. Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, which grabbed the second spot in U+R HSM, got mentioned across all three markets.
Zee TV’s singing reality show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ replaced Rishtey’s ‘Naagin 2’ at the fourth spot, while Colors’ ‘Shani’ replaced Sony SAB’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ at the fifth rank.
Top Hindi GECs in rural HSM
Sony Pal maintained its lead in the rural HSM chart with 51.60 crore weekly impressions. The channel witnessed a growth of 17.79% compared to the previous week, BARC data showed.
Zee Anmol followed on to second rank with 38.04 crore weekly impressions while Rishtey stayed at the third spot with 37.67 crore impressions.
Zee TV moved up to the fifth position with 23.65 crore weekly impressions while Star Plus, with 21.97 crore impressions, dropped to the sixth position.
Big Magic replaced SET at the tenth spot, as SET exited the list.
Top 5 shows in rural HSM
Sony Pal’s ‘CID’ grabbed the top spot from Rishtey’s ‘Naagin 2’, which was the last week’s top show in the rural market.
Sony Pal registered two shows, ‘CID’ and ‘Balveer’, in the top two, as a result of which Rishtery’s ‘Naagin 2’ dropped to the third position.
Zee Anmol’s ‘Jamai Raja’ moved up to the fourth spot. Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ entered the chart at No. 5.
Top Hindi GECs in urban HSM
Star Plus and Colors continued their dominance at the first and second positions in the urban HSM, with 46.17 crore and 43.10 crore weekly impressions respectively. Star Plus saw a decline of 4.76% compared to the earlier week.
Zee TV stayed at the third spot with 31.40 crore weekly impressions. The standings otherwise remained the unchanged.
Top 5 shows in urban HSM
Colors’ three shows got mentioned in the urban charts. While ‘Naagin 2’ maintained its lead, ‘Shani’ moved up to the fourth spot and ‘Shakti’ entered the list at No. 5.
Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, which swapped places with Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, was at the second spot.
