Sony brings back Archana Vijaya to spice up ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ for IPL 2017
MUMBAI: A show that has served as the mecca for cricket and entertainment enthusiasts, ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ is back as the 10th season of IPL beckons.
The new season resonates with a new theme, a set design evocative of a city square buzzing with bright lights and faces who have ruled ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ since its inception.
The new season of ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ brings back Archana Vijaya, who will travel across the length and breadth of the country, looking for untold stories of cricketing legends, catching fans unawares and bringing to us some behind-the-scene stories.
While Vijaya takes on the nostalgia craze, veterans Gaurav Kapur and Samir Kochhar will continue to be seen on the show.
Celebrating the journey of a decade, the latest season of ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ will be accompanied by a host of new variations. Paying tribute to the spirit of fandom, the Sony channels telecasting IPL 2017 will offer a select group of fans the experience of being on the show.
Fans will also get an opportunity to be a part of entertaining segments like ‘Beat the Expert’, wherein they will compete with and try to beat the in-house experts. The other new segment is ‘Debate of the Day’, which is a structured discussion about a topic of some cricketing relevance to the viewers. A couple of other new variants are ‘On the Couch’, which is a set of quick questions aimed at the guests in a rapid-fire format and ‘This Day that Year’, which is all about reminiscing the finest moments from this tournament.
Offering cricket fanatics with a pleasant treat, ‘Extraaa Innings T20’ will be bringing back Harsha Bhogle, who will provide tongue-in-cheek commentary along with his contemporaries like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kevin Pietersen and Matthew Hayden.
Sony Max cluster senior executive VP, business head Neeraj Vyas said, “Since the 10th season of Vivo IPL is entirely dedicated to fans, we are keen on ensuring that IPL fans are a part of our initiatives. With ‘Extraas Innings T20’, we want to celebrate and salute the fans for showcasing their passion and relentless support towards IPL through the years. Through the new peripheral programming, newer faces for commentary, elaborate set and new segments within the show, viewers are in for a visual treat more than ever before.”
