Ronnie Screwvala’s Unilazer ventures into sports; Supratik Sen is CEO
MUMBAI: Unilazer Ventures, the private equity company promoted by media baron turned entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala, has floated a sports management company and has roped in former Red Bull India sports marketing head Supratik Sen as its CEO.
Unilazer Sports will focus on teams, leagues, academies as well as on creating IPs and franchises in two or three selected sports. Unilazer Sports will operate as a new unit under Unilazer Ventures.
Sen is a former national rugby player and a professionally trained footballer and cricketer who spent the last five years at Red Bull India leading all their marquee projects with athletes, sports projects and events in the country.
Before joining Red Bull, Sen worked with sports marketing research company Repucom. Prior to that, he had also worked with sports, event marketing and media management companies such as Procam, Percept D’Mark and E-Sense Entertainment.
In all, he has over 15 years of work experience in sports marketing and talent management. His journey began at Future Hope India that works in grass-roots development of sports in Eastern India.
Screwvala, who had last year stepped down as the managing director of Disney UTV last year, had set up Unilazer Ventures with the aim of investing in sectors like agriculture, health care, micro finance and education that will play at integral part in the India consumption story.
