Republic TV’s advertiser list swells ahead of launch
MUMBAI: Arnab Goswami’s English news channel Republic TV has got on board some new sponsors as it gears for launch on 6 May.
In addition to the eight founding partners, Republic TV has roped in seven more sponsors, namely Ravin, NestAway, Future Group, Havells, Gionee, Lloyd and Raymond.
Earlier, the news channel had signed eight founding partners, namely Vivo, Jio Digital Life, Renault, Hike Messenger, Ola, Star India, Yes Bank and Microsoft.
“This is Arnab. I’m live on Republic TV from 10 am on Super Saturday. I can’t wait to speak directly to you again! Join me on #May6WithArnab,” Goswami said in a message posted on Republic’s Twitter handle.
Actor Kamal Haasan has lent his voice for the channel’s launch.
The free-to-air (FTA) channel will have a wide reach right from Day 1 with availability across cable TV, direct-to-home (DTH) and over the top (OTT) platforms.
Goswami’s Republic TV will be available on Star India’s VoD platform Hotstar in addition to Reliance Jio’s OTT platform Jio TV. This is the first time that Hotstar will have a third-party channel on its platform.
On DTH, the channel has been added by Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, Tata Sky and Videocon d2h.
Leading multi-system operators (MSOs) like Hathway Cable & Datacom, DEN Networks, Siti Networks, InDigital, Fastway Transmission, Axom Communications & Cable, and Ortel Communications are also carrying the channel.
Republic TV had acquired its broadcast licence on 1 March.
“From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and North East to Gujarat, Republic TV is an FTA (free-to-air) channel. Dear viewers, you’ve supported me over the years & Republic is the result of your faith. My young, passionate, idealistic & committed news team needs your support. A committed news team is putting out an FTA channel. Back them and contact your cable/DTH provider now,” Goswami had said in a message on Twitter.
The channel had launched its brand campaign on 15 April, with Goswami informing his viewers about the impending launch, followed by a series of brand films in which he targets different personalities who have been makings news recently.
Mindshare is the media buying agency of Republic TV while O&M is the ad agency. Laqshya Media is the OOH agency of record for three years.
Goswami has teamed up with Rajya Sabha MP and NDA vice chairman Rajeev Chandrasekhar for Republic TV. The two, along with Goswami’s wife Samyabrata Ray Goswami, have floated two companies named ARG Outlier Media and SARG Media Holding for the venture.
Besides Chandrasekhar, other investors in the venture include DEN Networks promoter Sameer Manchanda, Aarin Capital Partners’ Ranjan Ramdas Pai, veteran investment banker Hemendra Kothari, Asian Heart Institute’s Ramakanta Panda, TVS Tyres’ R Naresh and Shobhana Ramachandhran, and Renaissance Jewellery owner Niranjan Shah.
Goswami has roped in Chitra Subramanian, Minhaz Merchant and Major Gaurav Arya as advisors. Actor Anupam Kher will also host a show on the channel.
