MTV launches ‘Splitsvilla 8’ in new avatar

MUMBAI: Youth channel MTV India is back with yet another season of its popular love- and dating-based show ‘Splitsvilla’.

In its eighth season now, the show will see a change in format focusing on ‘what women want’.

Launching on 4 July, the show will air as a bi-weekly on Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm for the first two weeks. From the third week onwards, it will run as a weekly show airing every Saturday at 7 pm.

While Sunny Leone returns once again to host ‘Splitsvilla 8’, this time she will be accompanied by MTV VJ Rannvijay, who will be seen hosting the show after seven years. Karbonn Smart MTV Splitsvilla 8 will uncover ‘what women love’.

MTV India EVP and business head Aditya Swamy said, “We are in the eighth season of ‘Splitsvilla’ and the temperature is soaring at an all-time high. The all-new combination of Sunny and Rannvijay has given the show a whole new flavour as we explore the theme of ‘What women want’. We have a record number of brand partners this year, which reflects the growing popularity of the show. Leveraging our huge fan base on social media with exclusive digital content and combining it with a multimedia marketing campaign, I am looking forward to a record opening for this season as we give our audience double the action by launching the show for the first time as a bi-weekly.”

In order to ‘Kill Boring’, the channel has changed the format of the show to bring in some more fun at the boys’ expense.

To show the boys what women truly value in a man, the creators of the show are pitting eight celebrity boys against eight regular boys to woo 14 girls. Set against the backdrop of the beaches of Goa, the show will be an insight into a woman’s heart and the secrets it holds.

The eight celebrity boy contestants for this season include Paras Chabra, ex-winner of ‘Splitsvilla 5’; Zaan Khan, TV actor; Prince Narula, winner of ‘MTV Roadies X2’; Utkarsh Gupta, TV actor from MTV ‘Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan’; Ishaan Chibber, model and radio show host; model Viren Singh Rathore; and TV actors Amaad Mintoo and Yash Pandit.

Another set of eight male contestants will compete with the eight celebrity boys to win the hearts of the girls.

The theme of ‘What women want’ will have the boys going to any extent to make the woman of their choice happy. From pampering, to cooking, to cleaning and loving the girls, they will do anything and everything to win their hearts any way possible.
