Live Viacom 18 brings back VDot Emerge in association with Vh1

MUMBAI: There will be a fusion of booming dubstep and electronic dance music as the third edition of VDot Emerge kicks off this month. Conceptualised by Live Viacom18, the five-city gig will witness performances by Engine-Earz Experiment and DJ ASA, who’s been making waves across the electronic music scene with his EP with Koan Sound.

Starting in Mumbai, the group will tour Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata from 21–30 May. The event will air on Vh1.

The underground property has been curated with the aim of inspiring engagement and creating a platform for the Indian crowds to experience diverse music genres from across the globe. The multi-city gigs bring contemporary international musical talent to India, providing an ideal cross between India and the brilliant global sounds.

The first two editions witnessed Jeremy Loops and American band Dinner and a Suit enthral the audience with their lively performances. The third season will not only go beyond the traditional realms of live experience but also engage audiences on air. Adhering to the current explosion of electronic music in the country, the upcoming gigs will see Engine-Earz Experiment performing in India alongside DJ ASA.

Viacom18 senior VP, business head INS, Jaideep Singh said, “Today’s youth are well aware of the developments in the global music scenario. Along with a growing popularity of the acclaimed artists, there is also a rise in underground music. Live events are gaining prominence as the audience enjoys engaging with their favourite artists and getting up close and personal. The aim of VDot Emerge is to fulfil this need and expose music lovers to a wide range of genres from the international music scene.”

Viacom18 Media senior VP, GM, English entertainment Ferzad Palia said, “VDot Emerge is a dedicated platform that does not only showcase international talent in India but creates fresh and unique experiences that music lovers can take back with them as well as reminisce through the channel when it airs on Vh1.”

Van Heusen has joined as presenting sponsor. The company’s brand head Vinay Bhopatkar said, “We are thrilled to be partnering again for this property with LIVE Viacom18. The property is a youth-oriented platform, which is an ideal match for our premium club wear collection VDot. The last edition gave us an opportunity to directly connect and engage with young party-goers. We look forward to another successful edition.”

Engine-Earz Experiment producer and founder DJ Prash Mistry commented, “I’m hyped about my India trip to DJ for this UK bass music special. It’s always been a big rush for me to carry this musical culture I grew up with in England back to the land of my ancestors. This time I’m bringing with me one of the UK’s most cutting-edge producers from Bristol, ASA. He has been making waves across the electronic music scene with his record with Koan Sound on Skrillex’ label, OWSLA. At the Mumbai launch we’re collaborating with Orifice Vulgatron from Foreign Beggars and local legend, Randolph aka Func from Pentagram/Shaair n Func. Since we are all very passionate about encouraging new talent in India we’ll be running a master class with all of these artists in Mumbai on 21 May at True School of Music just before the show. We hope to see you there!”
