Life OK drops to sixth spot

MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Life OK have seen a dip in their viewership in the week ended 30 August. While SET saw a drop of 49 GVMs (gross television viewership in millions), Life OK sustained a drop of 21 GVMs.

When it comes to the pecking order, SET stayed put at the fourth place while Life OK dropped to the sixth spot.

Despite the launch of two new shows in its Sunday primetime, Hindi GEC leader Star Plus saw a marginal gain.

‘India’s Raw Star’ opened with a viewership of 4.5 million TVTs (television viewership in thousand). The two-hour episode had a time spent per viewer (TSV) of 24.6 minutes, fetching gross viewership of 18 TVTs.

‘Airlines’, which started airing at the 9 pm band, opened with 3.3 million TVTs and a TSV of 16.4 minutes, thereby clocking viewership of 6.7 million TVTs from its original airing.

With the exception of ‘Yeh Rishta’, all its top-rated shows saw a decline during the week.

In contrast, Zee TV steadily held on to its second position, despite incurring a marginal loss. It had four properties in the list of top 10 fiction shows. In terms of average viewership, ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ led the charts.

Colors’ top-rated non-fiction property ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ saw an increase in viewership. The channel’s other fiction property, ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, also remained in the top 10 list.

Nearing its end in the next three weeks, Colors’ second non-fiction property, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, also saw an increase in viewership.

With ‘KBC’ running from Monday to Thursday at 8.30 pm, SET remained at No. 4. In the previous week, the channel had seen a huge jump on the back of a three-hour grand premiere of the game show.

SET also premiered Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Bhootnath Returns’, which fetched the channel a staggering 5 million TVTs and a TSV of 36.4 minutes, thus contributing 32.5 million gross viewership to the channel.
