‘Krrish 3’ adds spike to SET’s viewership
MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (SET) benefited from the world TV premiere of Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra-starrer ‘Krrish 3’ in the week ended 29 March.
The blockbuster clocked a peak rating of 10.7 million TVM (TV viewership in millions) and helped the channel to add 49 million GVMs (gross viewership in millions) to its kitty. With the spike, SET managed to race ahead of its sister channel SAB and ended the week at the fifth spot, as per TAM data for the Hindi-speaking markets (sourced from subscribers).
The only other big gainer in the genre was the No. 1 player Star Plus which added 38 million GVMs to its previous week’s telly. The increase in viewership came on the back of strong performance of fiction programming. In the previous week, it had seen a dip in the ratings as its Saturday primetime viewership got affected by the India vs Pakistan T20 match.
Hindi GEC category
The Hindi GEC category witnessed total GVMs of 2,642 million compared to 2,675 million GVMs it had grabbed in the week-ago period. The last four-week average of the category stands at 2,675 million GVMs.
Top 10 fiction shows
Star Plus had seven shows (‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Saathiya Saath Nibhana’, ‘Yeh Rishta’, ‘Veera’, ‘Mahabharat’, ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai’ and for the first time ‘Yeh Hai Mohhabatein’), Zee TV had two shows (‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Sapne Suhane’) and SAB had ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ in the list.
No fiction show from Colors, SET and Life OK found a place in the top 10 list.
Top non-fiction/ weekend programmes
Colors’ non-fiction show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ once again topped the category with 8.7 million TVTs. This was followed by ‘Khataron Ke Khiladi’ with 6 million. SET’s ‘CID’ and Zee TV’s ‘DID Little Masters 3’ were at No. 3 with 4.9 million each, followed by Star Plus’ ‘Satyamev Jayate’ (3.8 million) and SET’s Crime Patrol (3.1 million) respectively.
Time spent per viewer
Star Plus’ TSV increased to 165 minutes from 157 minutes, while Zee TV’s dropped to 122 minutes from 126 minutes in the previous week. Colors’ TSV dropped to 120 minutes from 121 minutes. Life OK’s TSV dropped to 102 minutes from to 106 minutes, while SET’s jumped from 84 minutes last week to 96 minutes. SAB TV’s TSV remained at 92 minutes.
Star Plus’ reach increased to 125.2 million, from 123.7 million, while Zee TV saw a decline in reach to 113.2 million (from 116.8 million). Colors’ reach this week decreased to 113.8 million from 116.4 million in the preceding week. SET’s increased to 113.7 million from 111.1 million. Life OK’s reach dropped to 109.2 million from 112.6 million, while SAB’s reach dropped to 88.8 million from 94 million in the previous week.
