Hindi GECs gain in Week 20
MUMBAI: Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) witnessed some growth in their viewership. Compared to the previous week, Star Plus, which had been ruling the roster for a while, witnessed a 2.07% growth with 63.71 crore weekly impressions. It was followed by Sony Pal with 58.82 crore weekly impressions (1.81% growth).
According to BARC India data for Week 20, Colors moved up to the fourth place even as Star Plus continued to rule the charts in urban + rural Hindi-speaking market (HSM).
In the previous week, Colors had fallen to the fifth position. Now with 48.78 crore weekly impressions, the channel moved up to the fourth position, seeing a 1.123% growth in viewership.
Zee TV maintained the third position with 50.32 crore weekly impressions, whereas Zee Anmol, which had surpassed Colors last week, fell to the fifth position with 47.54 crore weekly impressions.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) once again jumped to the ninth position while Life OK slipped to the bottom of the chart, BARC data for the week ended 19 May showed.
Top 5 shows in U+R HSM
The week ended 19 May did not see any change in the order of the top five shows. Zee TV’s ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ ruled the chart, followed by Colors’ ‘Naagin 2’ at No. 2 and Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ at No. 3.
Zee TV’s ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ and ‘Jamai Raja’ grabbed the fourth and fifth rank respectively.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
Star Plus ruled the charts in urban HSM with 42.79 crore weekly impressions, marking a growth of 1.37%. It was followed by Colors with 31.78 crore weekly impressions.
The chart remained unchanged from the previous week.
Top 5 shows in Urban HSM
The chart remained unchanged in the urban HSM as Colors’ ‘Naagin’ maintained its lead on the chart and Zee TV’s ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ stayed at the second rank.
Top Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
In the rural HSM, Sony Pal topped the charts with 43.57 crore weekly impressions, followed by Zee Anmol with 38.29 crore weekly impressions.
Sony Sab dropped to the eighth position and Colors moved up to the seventh rank. The rest of the chart remained the same.
Top 5 shows in Rural HSM
Zee Anmol’s two shows, namely ‘Jamai Raja’ and ‘Tashan-e-Ishq’, secured the first and second position on the chart.
Meanwhile, Sony Pal’s ‘Balveer’ slipped to the third position, followed by Sony Sab’s ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashmah’ and Zee TV’s ‘Kum Kum Bhagya’ at the fourth and fifth spot, respectively.
