Hindi GEC slot analysis for week ended 17 May

MUMBAI: TelevisionPost.com presents you with an analysis of the different programming slots of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs), as per TAM data (sourced from subscribers) for the Hindi-speaking markets for the week ended 17 May.

Fiction shows

Mon–Fri 6 pm: Original airing of ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ on Star Plus clocked an average of 3.3 million television viewership in millions (TVM), compared to 3.2 million in the trailing week.

Mon–Fri 6:30 pm: Original airing of ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ on Star Plus was at 2.9 million (up from 2.7 million), while Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ averaged at 2.1 million (1.8 million in last week).

Mon–Fri 7 pm: Star Plus’ ‘Saathiya’, the slot leader, saw a jump in its average viewership to 9.8 million, compared to 8.5 million in the previous week. Zee TV’s ‘Ek Mutthi Aasmaan’ averaged at 3.5 million. In the previous week, the channel had aired a special ‘mahasangam’ episode of ‘Ek Mutthi Aasmaan’ and ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’ on the slot, which had averaged at 5.1 million. Colors is running repeats of it pull the plug on ‘Sanskar’.

Mon–Fri 7:30 pm: ‘Saraswatichandra’ on Star Plus remained the slot leader with viewership of 5.8 million, up from 5 million. ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Kay’ (Zee TV) remained at 5 million, while the average of ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ (Colors) remained at 3.7 million.

Mon–Fri 8 pm: Zee TV’s ‘Jodha Akbar’ maintained its slot leadership with viewership of 8.9 million (from 8.5 million). Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu’ dropped to 4.3 million (4.5 million in the previous week), while Star Plus’ ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ also clocked 4.3 million, up from 3.8 million. ‘Baal Veer’ on SAB averaged at 2.6 million (from 2.8 million), while Life OK’s ‘Mahadev’ remained stable at 1.7 million. SET’s ‘Main Na Bhulungi’ dropped to 0.9 million, from 1.0 million in the last week.

Mon–Fri 8:30 pm: Star Plus’ epic show ‘Mahabharat’ remained the slot leader despite a drop in viewership to 6.0 million (6.3 million in the last week). ‘Tarak Mehta’ (SAB) increased to 5.6  million (up from 4.3 million), while the average viewership of Zee TV’s ‘Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se’ increased to 4.7 million (4.3 million). The average of ‘Madhubala’ (Colors) dropped to 2.8 million (from 3.2 million), while SET’s ‘Ek Nayi Pehchan’ remained at 1.2 million (11 million).

Mon–Fri 9:00 pm: Slot leader Star Plus’ ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ saw a drop in average to 9.5 million (from 10.3 million). Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ clocked 3.0 million (2.8 million in last week), while Colors’ ‘Beintehaan’ dropped to 2.8 million (from 3.4 million in last week). ‘Chidiya Ghar’ on SAB garnered 2.1 million (up marginally from 2.0 million).

Mon–Fri 9:30 pm: The average of slot leader ‘Yeh Rishta’ (Star Plus) dropped to 6.3 million (from 7.3 million), while Zee TV’s ‘Qubool Hai’ dropped to 3.6 million (from 3.8 million). ‘Rangrasiya’ (Colors) increased to 2.9 million (from 2.7 million), while Life Ok’s ‘Tumhari Pakhi’ dropped to 2.4 million (from 2.5 million). The average of ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ on SAB remained at 1.3 million, same as last week.

Mon–Fri 10 pm: Star Plus’ slot-leading ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ dropped to 5.6 million (from 6.3 million), while the average viewership of Zee TV’s ‘Aur Pyar Ho Gaya’ dropped to 3.0 million (from 3.1 million last week). Colors’ ‘Uttaran’ increased to 3.7 million (from 3.6 million), while SET’s ‘Maharana Pratap’ increased to 3.2 million (from 2.7 million). ‘Lapataganj’ on SAB remained at 1.4 million (1.6 million last week). Life Ok’s ‘Welcome 2’ increased to 2.0 million (1.3 million).

Mon–Fri 10:30 pm: ‘Veera’ on Star Plus dropped to 5.3 million (from 6.4 million), holding on to its slot leadership, while Zee TV’s ‘Doli Armano Ki’ increased to 3.2 million (from 2.9 million). Colors’ ‘Bani’ remained at 2.5 million (from 2.3 million). ‘FIR’ on SAB and ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ (SET) averaged at 1.0 million and 1.4 million respectively.

Mon–Fri 11 pm: Star Plus’ ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ averaged at 5.5 million, down from 6.7 million last week.

Weekend/ Non-fiction shows

Colors: ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ (Sun–Sat 10 pm) dropped at 5.9 million (it was 6.9 million in the previous week). The Sunday episode got 6.3 million (compared to 6.8 million) while the Saturday episode got 5.5 million (from 7.1 million).

‘Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi’ (Sun–Sat 9 pm) averaged at 5.3 million (last week 4.9 million). The Sunday episode got 5.5 million (from 4.8 million), while its Saturday episode clocked 5.1 million, same as previous week.

SET: ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’ at Mon-Thu 9 pm slot clocked peak viewership of 3.6 million and average viewership of 2.7 million in the week. ‘CID’ (Sun, Fri & Sat 10 pm) saw an average of 3.3 million (3.0 million last week) and ‘Crime Patrol’ (Friday–Sunday 11 pm) of 2.1 million (2.3 million last week). ‘Adaalat’ (Friday–Sunday 7:30 pm) remained at 1.5 million (from 1.2 million), while ‘Encounter’ (Fri–Sun 9 pm) averaged at 1.3 million.

Zee TV: The average of ‘DID L’il Masters’ (Sat–Sun 9 pm) dropped to 3.3 million (from 3.4 million). ‘Fear Files’ (Sat–Sun 10:30 pm) put up an average of 2.2 million (from 1.9 million), ‘Gangs of Hansipur’ (Sat – Sun 8 pm) averaged at 1.6 million (from 1.7 million) while ‘Buddha’ (Sun 11:30 am) remained at an average of 0.7 million.

Star Plus: The last episodes of ‘Mad in India’ (Sun 9 pm) and ‘Ishq Kills’ (Sun 10 pm) clocked 1.4 million and 0.8 million TVMs respectively.
