HD rules in English entertainment; AXN HD top channel in Week 36
MUMBAI: The English entertainment genre has quite a large number of high-definition subscribers, which is evident from the fact that AXN HD was the most-watched channel for the week ended 9 September.
AXN HD overtook all the standard-definition English entertainment channels in a week that saw viewership increase for the genre as a whole.
AXN HD replaced Zee Café as the top-rated channel, BARC data showed. Comedy Central slipped a rank to take the third spot while Star World HD and Star World were in the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
While AXN HD climbed the ladder, its SD version slipped out of the top 5.
Top 5 English movie channels
Star Movies moved a slot up to take the second position in the English movie genre while Movies Now continued to rule.
Losing its position to Star Movies, Sony Pix slipped to the third spot, according to BARC’s weekly data.
HBO and Zee Studio continued to occupy their respective fourth and fifth positions.
Top 5 movies
Bruce Lee’s ‘Fist of Fury’, shown on Movies Now, was the most-watched movie of the week.
‘Fantastic Four’ on Star Movies was the second most-watched film, followed by ‘The Legend of Hercules’.
Top 5 infotainment channels
History TV18 was one step up from the trailing week and NGC a rank down, BARC data for the week ended 9 September showed.
While History TV18 was the No. 2 infotainment channel, Discovery was at the top.
Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild continued to hold the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Top 5 kids channels
Cartoon Network swapped positions with Pogo to be the No. 2 channel in the kids TV space.
Disney Channel and Hungama, both from the Disney India stable, also inter-changed their positions.
