Fox Star Studios to start work on 2nd movie this year; ‘Guddu Rangeela’ to release in Q1 of 2015

MUMBAI: After announcing a sports entertainment film, Fox Star Studios has unveiled plans for its second movie this year. ‘Guddu Rangeela’, a comedy drama, will commence shooting in March and is slated for release in the first quarter of 2015.

The award-winning team of Jolly LLB comprising Subhash Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Fox Star Studios will make its comeback for this feature film. The film is produced by Sangeeta Ahir of Mangal Murti Films.

Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh said, “Jolly LLB, with Arshad and Subhash, was our first independent production and its critical and commercial success has reinforced the fact that our vision to create high concept yet entertaining cinema has found resonance with the audiences worldwide. We believe in Subhash’s vision and are looking forward to partnering once more, on what is going to be an exciting cinematic journey.”

Arshad Warsi will be playing the role of Rangeela, along with Amit Sadh essaying the role of Guddu and Aditi Rao Hydari as Baby.

The movie promises to be a dramatic roller coaster ride riddled with twists and turns in the life of the lead protagonists in their quest to make it big even as they are thrown together for an unexpected mission.

Producer Ahir added, “We loved Jolly LLB and decided to partner with Subhash on his next, Guddu Rangeela, which is by far one of the most exciting stories we have heard in recent times. We are looking forward to working with Fox Star Studios and leveraging their marketing and distribution might to ensure the film reaches out to the audiences worldwide.”

Guddu Rangeela will be shot across Shimla, Ludhiana, Chandigarh and other locations in North India.

Subhash Kapoor stated, “Set in north India, Guddu Rangeela is a story that will bring a smile on everyone’s face and I promise you will fall in love with the two characters. I am glad to once again partner with Fox Star Studios and together we hope to re-create the magic of Jolly LLB. We have an excellent ensemble cast led by Arshad, Amit and Aditi.”
