FoodFood travels to the US via Dish
MUMBAI: Food lifestyle channel FoodFood has launched in the US via Dish Network’s direct-to-home (DTH) and IPTV platforms.
The channel has no immediate plans to launch in the UK market.
“We have launched in the US through Dish Network. The UK is a tough market and we have no immediate plans to launch there. The cost-to-return is not exciting. We will go there but later,” said the channel’s founder-promoter and celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
FoodFood will be available to viewers in the US on Dish channel 713 and DishWorld IPTV.
“Delicious Indian recipes are as rich and diverse as the Indian culture,” said Kapoor. “FoodFood has quickly gained popularity in India, and with the growing demand for Indian food all over the world, we are proud to bring our channel to the US nationwide on Dish.”
FoodFood is available on Dish’s satellite TV service and DishWorld IPTV in the Hindi Mega Pack at no additional cost. DishWorld IPTV provides access to Dish’s international programming without the need for a satellite antenna.
“With more than 270 channels in 28 languages, Dish offers the largest selection of international programming among major pay TV providers in the US,” said Dish vice president of international programming Bassil El-Khatib.
“As a leading international television provider, we are proud to offer FoodFood to our customers who are passionate about the flavours, art and lifestyle of Indian cuisine,” he added.
FoodFood will bring to the Dish subscribers the best of Indian and global cuisines, fusion innovations and delicacies from across continents. Kapoor and his team will share popular shows like ‘Sanjeev Kapoor’s Kitchen’, ‘Turban Tadka’, ‘Health Mange More’, ‘Mummy Ka Magic’ and many more.
FoodFood is focusing on strengthening its reach in international markets. It launched in Canada in December 2012. It is also available in Qatar and the UAE. In the US, the channel is distributed by Veracity Multimedia.
FoodFood is a joint venture between Kapoor, Malaysia-based Astro Overseas Ltd (Astro) and Mogae Consultants.
