Filmfare announces 1st edition of ‘Jio Filmfare Awards Punjabi’
MUMBAI: Filmfare Awards is expanding its footprint to Punjabi cinema with the launch of the first edition of ‘Jio Filmfare Awards Punjabi 2017’.
The awards event will take place on 31 March at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Mohali. The awards have got on board Jio as the title sponsor and MH One as the broadcast partner.
Commenting on the announcement, Worldwide Media CEO Deepak Lamba stated, “The first Jio Filmfare Awards Punjabi is another milestone in the brand’s illustrious journey, and it is with the support of our partners that we are able to expand our horizons with every passing year. The Punjabi film industry is an important cog in India’s regional cinema sphere and is producing artists and films that have made a serious mark in recent times. We are proud to extend the ever-growing Filmfare awards franchise to this market and are looking forward to our very first year celebrating Punjabi cinema.’’
The awards are set to honour the best artists and talents in the Punjabi film industry with the coveted ‘Black Lady’. By venturing into this market, Filmfare will recognise the contribution of Punjabi cinema to the Indian film industry. Punjabi cinema boasts a serious pool of talent who are taking regional cinema forward with their outstanding work. The awards night will witness a congregation of some of the biggest names from the fraternity, all vouching for the prestigious award across categories.
