Disney acquires rights to TV series showing Amitabh Bachchan as an animated superhero

MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan as an animated superhero character? That is what Big B and CA Media-owned Graphic India are venturing to do.

Disney Channel India has acquired the telecast rights to the TV series.

The 52-episode animated series is called Astra Force and will telecast in 2017, the Economic Times has reported. Astra is a mythical hero from a distant world who was stranded on Earth millions of years ago after an epic battle and is awakened by eight-year-old twins.

Bachchan has partnered with Graphic India for this venture, ET has reported.

Bachchan’s much loved baritone will also be part of the series, Graphic India co-founder and CEO Sharad Devarajan told ET. Graphic India and Bachchan will share the intellectual property of the series.
