DD enters top 10 on back of cricket, Star Plus takes U+R HSM leadership
MUMBAI: After capturing the urban Hindi-speaking market (HSM) leadership from Colors, Star Plus also grabbed the urban + rural HSM leadership from its arch-rival, as per BARC ratings for Week 3.
The battle for Hindi GEC leadership has intensified ever since Colors became No. 1 in October 2016 on the back of ‘Naagin 2’.
DD National entered the top 10 in style by taking hold of the sixth position thanks to the India–England ODI match.
Star Utsav pipped Sony Entertainment Television (SET) for the No. 5 position, according to BARC data for the week ended 20 January.
SET dropped to the seventh position. Life OK advanced to the ninth position even as SAB TV entered top 10 at the expense of Zee Anmol, which exited from the top 10 table.
Top 5 programs in Urban+Rural HSM
The second India–England ODI match notched 10.9 million impressions to become the second most-watched programme during the week. ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ was out of the top 5 list.
Top Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
The top 3 in urban HSM remained unchanged. Star Plus, Colors and SET occupied the top three positions.
Zee TV got better of SAB TV to occupy the fourth position.
Star Utsav was pushed out of top 10 as DD National made a comeback to the table. &TV, Rishtey and Sony Pal had to move a level down as DD National grabbed the seventh position.
Top 5 programs in Urban HSM
‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ entered the top 5 list in urban HSM. The other four shows were the same as the previous week.
‘Naagin season 2’ was the top-rated show.
Top Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
In rural HSM, DD National shot up to the third position pushing Zee Anmol to fourth position.
Rishtey and Star Utsav were the top two channels, according to BARC data for the week ended 20 January.
SET exited the top 10 table as channels from third to the eighth position moved a level down, thereby pushing the channel out of the top 10 table. Life OK held its ground at No. 10.
Top 5 programmes in Rural HSM
The first two ODIs between India and England featured in the top 5 programme list.
‘Naagin’ was the top-rated show. ‘Baalveer’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ were out of the top 5.
