Colors reclaims No. 2 spot from Zee TV; Sony moves up to No. 6
MUMBAI: After being relegated to the third position for a few weeks, Viacom18’s Hindi GEC Colors returned to No. 2, pushing Zee TV to the third slot, as per BARC ratings for Week 37 for Hindi-speaking urban plus rural markets. Star Plus continued to be the undisputed No. 1 GEC.
Sony Entertainment Television (SET) moved up the ladder to the sixth spot. Life OK and Sony Pal slipped down a level. The other positions in the hierarchy remained unchanged.
Top 5 shows in Urban+Rural HSM
SET’s ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ entered the list of the week’s top 5 shows.
Zee TV’s ‘Brahmarakshas’ emerged as the top show of the week while its ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was out of the top 5. Star Plus had two shows in the top 5.
Hindi GECs in Urban HSM
In urban HSM, SET jumped to the fourth position overtaking Life OK, which moved to the sixth position. All other positions remained unchanged.
Star Plus stayed at the top, followed by Colors and then Zee TV.
Top 5 shows in Urban HSM
Colors’ ‘Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ emerged as the top show in the urban HSM.
Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was pushed out of the top 5. Star Plus had two shows in top 5 while Zee TV and SET had one each.
Hindi GECs in Rural HSM
In rural HSM, there was no change in the pecking order, except for the swapping of positions between Star Plus and Zee TV. While Star Plus took the fifth position, Zee TV was ranked sixth.
The first four positions were occupied by free-to-air (FTA) channels. Zee Anmol continued to be the top-rated channel, followed by Star Utsav, Sony Pal and then Rishtey.
Top 5 shows in Rural HSM
Four of the top 5 shows were the same; only ‘Brahmarakshas’ replaced ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ at the fifth position.
‘Jodha Akbar’ on Zee TV was the most-watched show of the week. ‘Bandini’ and ‘Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa’ took the second and third positions, both shown on Zee TV.
Hindi movie channels
In the Hindi movie genre, the competition intensified with free-to-air (FTA) channels giving a tough competition to the mainline channels.
Sony Wah grabbed the second spot, pushing Zee Cinema and Star Gold to the third and fourth positions respectively.
Zee Anmol Cinema was No. 5 while Sony Max continued to be the numero uno channel.
Top 5 movies
Four of the top five films of the week belonged to Sony Max, with ‘Sholay’ on Star Gold filling the solitary slot.
