Colors’ new shows see strong debut

MUMBAI: For Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Colors, the week ended 7 February held a lot of promise. The launch episode of its ‘Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat’ fetched a viewership of 5.1 TVM (television viewership in millions) and a weekly average of 5.4 TVM. Its other new launch, ‘Fear Fator: Khatron Ke Khiladi’, opened with 8.6 TVM and got a reach of 22.1 million. The time spent per viewer on the show was at 29.5 minutes during the launch episode on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Colors reclaimed its second position in the Hindi GEC hierarchy, despite a drop of 23 GVM (gross television viewership in millions). In the previous week, the channel had aired the grand finale of ‘Bigg Boss – Halla Bol’, which had added 35.9 GVM to its coffers.

Zee TV, which had overtaken Colors to claim the second spot in the previous week on the back of a world TV premiere, lost 34 GVM during the week, thereby falling back to the third position. The premiere of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Happy New Year’ had fetched the channel 75.4 GVM.

Zee TV aired a repeat of ‘Happy new Year’ on Sunday, which clocked 4 TVM.

A look at other channels
