Viu wins Frost & Sullivan’s APAC telco digital service provider award

MUMBAI: PCCW Media’s OTT video service Viu was named Asia Pacific Telco Digital Service Provider of the Year by Frost & Sullivan, a global research and consulting firm.

Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards are coveted awards presented to companies which demonstrate outstanding achievement and superior performance.

The successful engagement to three important factors — flexibility, content and coverage — has solidified the company’s position in product leadership in the digital service industry,” Frost & Sullivan consulting analyst Digital Transformation Cris Duy Tran said.

As a free app, Viu is available for download from the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play Store for Android devices and users can enjoy flexible, ready access to premium quality content which is streamed or downloaded for viewing on their mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Viu can also be accessed on laptop computers. It also allows users to upgrade to premium subscriptions for access to additional features.

Viu has a wealth of content including the latest popular TV dramas and variety shows from Korea, Japan, mainland China, Taiwan, Bollywood, Hollywood as well as other premium Asian content from the region. In Hong Kong, Viu offers traditional Chinese subtitling as fast as four hours after telecast in Korea for certain selected latest Korean drama series.

Viu has been launched in India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. PCCW Media also has interests in OTT video services in 12 markets with over 9 million subscribers. Markets covered include Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Oman and Thailand.
