Viu debuts original content

MUMBAI: Viu, a leading pan-regional OTT video service by PCCW Media, today debuts the airing of the latest Viu Original content that showcases a vast array of Chinese content from unique drama series, reality travelogs, culinary shows to infotainment talk shows by ViuTV, a domestic free TV service provider in Hong Kong.

The programs embracing the lifestyle of today’s viewers are available in Singapore and the Philippines immediately and will be progressively rolled out to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

Viu Original will further boost Viu’s already strong line-up of premium Asian content by introducing the ViuTV productions which are fresh, innovative and engaging to viewers in Southeast Asia.

Viu Original Chinese content will include the much talked-about and popular contemporary drama series such as “Margaret & David: Green Bean” from ViuTV starring famous Hong Kong artiste Bowie Lam, which unravels typical complex relationships and love triangles of today’s world.

Besides drama series, Viu Original’ vibrant and innovative reality programs are a far cry and departure from traditional variety shows. Today’s viewers yearn for unique experience so Viu Original’ shows from ViuTV like “404 Countries Not Found”, which was one of the top five programs in the “2016 TV Programme Appreciation Index Survey (3rd stage)” in Hong Kong, will quench their thirst for adventure by introducing exotic places such as Ubizis, North Cyprus, etc. Hosts in “Travel Stalker – Japan” venture on totally unplanned itinerary as they coat-tail some strangers in Japan and follow them around to have an authentic experience of the place.

In response to Millennials’ preference to experiment and savor exotic cuisines, Viu Original includes ViuTV’s innovative culinary shows that reflect their love of the exotic. “Colin’s Exotic Recipes” is filmed entirely on trying out different dishes based on the recommendations of nationals from exotic countries who reside in Hong Kong. As a result, the show fulfills viewers’ craving for authenticity. Meanwhile, “Go Green USA” caters to the vegans and the show features journeys around various cities in the United States in pursuit of green lifestyle.

After its recent launch in Thailand, Viu OTT video service is now available in 15 markets across the region, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and the Middle East countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. The service can be accessed via Viu mobile app (downloadable for free on App Store and Google Play) on connected devices such as smartphones and tablets as well as on computers by logging onto www.viu.com website. Viu operates on a dual model of an ad-supported tier and a premium subscription tier of service. As such, Viu offers viewers a choice from a free tier to a premium tier whereby subscribers gain access to more functions and features.
