Sony Liv launches spin-off of Kapil Sharma’s upcoming show on SET

MUMBAI: Sony Liv, Sony Pictures Networks’ (SPN) digital video entertainment platform, has launched a digital initiative with India’s leading stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma.

Called ‘Kapil Se Mil’, the initiative is a spin-off of the upcoming TV show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on Sony Entertainment Television (SET). It offers audiences an opportunity to meet Kapil Sharma and his entourage of comedians.

‘Kapil se Mil’ invites anyone who thinks he/she has a funny bone to a unique challenge of making the ‘Badshah of Comedy’ laugh for a change. All one has to do is upload a funny video of himself/herself on Sony Liv, out of which the best videos will entitle a select few to get on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ to see Kapil and his team live. The winner could also be a part of the show.

SPN EVP and head of digital business Uday Sodhi said, “While we continue to maintain our leadership position of offering the best entertainment through the digital platform, we are constantly looking for out-of-the-box initiatives to engage our audience. Kapil’s signature style of comedy has earned him an indubitable reputation of being one of the most sought-after comic actors in India. We are leveraging the same to garner people’s interest for ‘Kapil Se Mil’ and are confident of receiving a great response to this initiative that encourages them to put their comic streak to test.”

Sharma stated, “It gives me great pleasure to be part of Sony Liv’s ‘Kapil Se Mil’ initiative which will heighten viewers’ interest and level of involvement in our upcoming show on Sony Entertainment Television. A lot of people have often approached me to know about how they can be part of it and with ‘Kapil Se Mil’, we are giving viewers a chance to unleash their raw potential for comedy and get their share of the limelight on the show. It gives me a chance to interact and engage with them, which I eagerly look forward to.”
