Scripps Networks Interactive to launch HGTV in Singapore on StarHub
MUMBAI: Scripps Networks Interactive, a producer of lifestyle content about home, food and travel, has announced the launch of US home lifestyle channel HGTV in Singapore.
HGTV will debut on StarHub in December 2014 as the first regional channel dedicated to the growing home and lifestyle category in Asia.
With growing demand for high quality home lifestyle entertainment in Asia, HGTV will premiere with a line up of programmes about design and décor, home improvement, real estate, extreme spaces and more. Programmes such as ‘Property Brothers’, ‘Kitchen Cousins’ and ‘The High Low Project’ will entertain and inspire viewers with fresh ideas and authentic stories on how to find and love their own dream home.
As a continued commitment to cater to local audiences, Scripps Networks will also produce localised original short-form content exclusively for the launch of HGTV in Asia based on the series ‘Extreme Homes’.
HGTV president Kathleen Finch said, “Scripps Networks launched HGTV in the U.S. 20 years ago, and the network has grown markedly since then. It is now the number one upscale network for woman and is also ranked as one of the top 10 cable networks across all categories, with a reach of more than 99 million households. We have seen an increasing demand for high-quality lifestyle content all around the world and are excited to continue the HGTV brand’s global expansion, starting with the Asian region.”
Scripps Networks International president Jim Samples said, “The launch of HGTV across Asia-Pacific signifies the first time HGTV has launched as a premiere 24/7 channel destination focused on home and lifestyle programming outside North America, including the Caribbean. This is a testament to how successful Scripps Networks’ high quality lifestyle content has performed around the world, and we see great potential for this channel offering to drive value for audiences, affiliate and advertising partners alike.”
Scripps Networks Asia-Pacific MD Derek Chang said, “HGTV has achieved great success in the U.S, and we are now excited to mirror this in Asia. The home category is not widely represented in the region, which offers a great opportunity for Scripps Networks to bring HGTV to our audiences, and as a complement to our offering of Asian Food Channel, Food Network and Travel Channel, it further solidifies our position as the leading provider of lifestyle entertainment in the region. I would like to personally thank Tong Hai and his team from StarHub who were instrumental to our launch in Asia and look forward to working with StarHub to bring the HGTV experience to StarHub viewers in Singapore.”
HGTV joins the Scripps Networks family of lifestyle channels that are available in Asia, which include the Asian Food Channel, Food Network and Travel Channel. As a producer of lifestyle content, Scripps Networks provides access to home, food and travel content all under one media portfolio.
