Netflix renews Stranger Things for a third season
MUMBAI: Netflix has renewed its popular original show Stranger Things for third season. The digital platform announced the renewal through social networking site Twitter.
The original series was launched in 2016 whereas the second season was released in October 2017. Set in the fictional rural town of Hawking, Indiana during the early 1980s, the first season began with Will Byers being abducted by a creature from the Upside Down. His mother, Joyce, and the town’s police chief, Jim Hopper, search for Will. At the same time, a young psychokinetic girl called Eleven escapes from the laboratory and assists Will’s friends, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, in their own efforts to find Will.
The second season is set a year later, starting in October 1984. Will had been rescued, but few know of the details of the events. When Will is found to be still influenced by entities from the Upside Down, his friends and family learn there is a larger threat to their universe from the Upside Down
The first two season of science fiction show features Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Dacre Montgomery as Billy, and Sadie Sink as Max, among others.
The Netflix original enjoyed huge success, garnering 18 Emmy nominations, of which it won five. Both seasons currently hold a 94 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The season two of the show is reported to acquire an average rating of 15.8miliion US viewers within the first three days of its release.
